Visit product page →Harry Eastlack died at the age of 39 from Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). FOP is a rare genetic disorder where bons forms in otherwise normal soft tisses of the body (i.e. muscle, ligaments, and cartilage).

Hyrtl Skull Postcard

The Hyrtl Skull Collection reflects the work of Josef Hyrtl (1810-1894), a Viennese anatomist whose collection of 139 human skulls were studied to negate the claims of scientists who believed that cranial features were factors indicating differences in personality and intelligence often based on race. Wax Eye Postcard

Visit product page →Purchased by the museum in 1882, this wax moulage depicts a variety of eye diseases and conditions including polyps, cancer, and bruising. Models made of wax were commonly used as teaching devices for diagnosing but were also prized for their realism and artistic value; occasionally they were exhibited to the public.
